This Febi power steering return hose connects the power steering cooling coil back to the fluid reservoir on the E46 3 Series, completing the low-pressure side of the steering circuit. Rubber return hoses soften and crack with age and heat cycling, leading to weeping or slow leaks at the reservoir connection.
