Bosch Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor for the BMW N55 3.0L turbo engine. It measures the volume of air entering the intake so the DME can calculate the correct amount of fuel to inject. MAF sensors degrade gradually, causing rough idle, hesitation, poor fuel economy and reduced power before eventually triggering a check-engine light or stalling; a quick diagnostic test is to unplug the sensor and see if idle quality improves.
