This is a replacement communication chip (C4035LS) for the BMW G-series GWS electronic gear shift module. When this chip fails, the GWS module loses its ability to communicate over the vehicle network, producing a common no-communication fault; replacing the chip restores module function without needing a full module swap. It is sold as a pair for the repair.
