This Elring sealing ring fits the engine oil level sensor where it threads into the oil pan or block. Over time this small seal hardens and shrinks, becoming a common source of a slow oil leak at the sensor that can easily be mistaken for a larger oil pan gasket or rear main seal leak, so it is a cheap and worthwhile item to renew whenever the sensor is removed.
